Watch app on phone says: “ must update phone software to update Watch.“

My phone software is fully up to date (but not iOS 16.)

To update to WatchOS9 your phone must be running ios16.

To update phone go to Settings>General>Software update and scroll to bottom of screen to update to iOS 16

Thank you. I’m not going to jump into iOS 16 just yet, seems like they have a few bugs to work out. But I’ll keep that in mind. Thank you.
