my touch id is not working on my ipad

I also tried ot add another fingerprint- but it doesnt even scan. it still remains grey.

Ensure that you set a Passcode - as without a configured Passcode, TouchID is disabled.

If Touch ID isn't working on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support
