Only Apple iPhones from 2017 Phone 8 or newer can install iOS 16.

I have an iphone 8 and see that , too. There is an option below that to go to 16.whatever, but given the things I'm seeing and hearing about 16, I'll wait until they get things right. Especially the battery drain issues. The other thing, is that usually there is not an a option to stay put. Maybe it's a good thing that there is this time!
