Since upgrading to iOS 16, I have not been able to import photos from my iPhone SE (2020) into the Photos app on my mid-20212 13 inch MBP (Mojave) . I get the "unrecognized file format" error. The photos do appear in iCloud. I have tried rebooting the phone and MBP, using a different USB port and different Lightning to USB cable. I never had any problems before iOS 16. Any suggestions?

Plenty of threads here with the same problem on older versions of MacOS. So far I’ve not seen a solution other than to upgrade. If you can’t upgrade then I’d suggest contacting support directly (top right of this page)

Thanks for responding. In your comment you mentioned upgrading. Does that apply to the iPhone or the MBP or both?
Several users reported the same problem here. You may have to wait for an iOS update with a bugfix.
