Can't detect external display

I just got a new 32" Samsung curved display to replace a previous one I had that got broken. I hadn't used the previous one in 2 years...long story, it was in storage. It used to work brilliantly!

I'm running Monterey 12.6 now. When I try to detect the monitor, there's no way to do it. Holding down the Option key in display settings does nothing. Help!

unplug/replug Display adapter works for me to allow 'missing' display to appear I have an adapter which provides a display port and some USB ports from my Mac. If I plug in an external monitor to the adapter's HDMI port, often the monitor is not found. But if I simply disconnect the adapter from the power and reconnect it, it works. [Re-Titled by Moderator]

the operating system has started blocking the recognition of my non-MAC monitor My operating system is the Mac Ventura 13.01 on my MacBook Air. I purchased from the Apple Store a Belkin attachment so that I could use my SyncMaster 940bx monitor as a second display. It was working just fine for several months then, about a week ago, I got a pop message that asked whether I wanted to allow the device. I clicked yes. Now suddenly when the Mac operating system detects it is there, it will show it in Displays for a few seconds and then it will not recognize it. It is not the cable. It gave me flashbacks to the Microsoft Operating system days when the system was designed to knock out any competition. Does anyone know a work around or some other attachment device that will work? I am not purchasing a MAC monitor.

BTW, I have followed all the suggested instructions, like resetting everything, rebooting, reconnecting the cable, everything that I can find that Apple suggests, and not one thing works. Really frustrating! Never had this kind of problem with Windows.
