App Store Won’t Let Me Update Apps

Every time I try to update my apps, I keep getting redirected to a “sign into iTunes” where it demands my password but no way to input my Apple ID. I have tried resetting my phone, checking the time and date, signing out of my account and signing back in again, checking my payment details (which are all fine by the way). I’ve gone as far as to check my internet, reset my modems, but alas I can’t seem to get past this error. Please note that this has happened only recently to me, I have not encountered this error in this past. I am at a loss for what could be causing this issue, please help!

Hi, HipsterHamster.

If you're sure the password you're entering is correct for the main Apple ID you use, it's possible that the apps you're attempting to update were acquired using another Apple ID. If that's the case, it'd require the password from that Apple ID to proceed.

If they're free apps, the simplest solution would be to delete and redownload these apps using your current Apple ID.

"How to delete an app

  1. Touch and hold the app.
  2. Tap Remove App Remove App icon.

An iPhone screen showing the menu that appears when you touch and hold an app. Remove App is the third option in the menu.

3.Tap Delete App, then tap Delete to confirm."

Delete apps on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support has more information. This will help ensure that your personal Apple ID is associated with the app in question, and is used for updates in the future.

Let us know if that helps, or if something else seems to be causing this.

Cheers.
