Watch OS9 Date

Why did apple stop giving the option to have a date in the center complication on the modular face. This was so simple and useful. I need a date that displays the day of week, month, and day of month, I.e Monday, Sep. 9. That complication option has been on every Apple Watch OS since the first. Why mess it up?
