erase a locked phone without passcode

I have been trying to unlock my phone last two days. The screen has been saying Iphone is unavailable. We can’t connect it to a laptop because the charger port or the cable isn’t working well. We tried logging in on Find my iphone and requested the erase of the phone but it tells us the phone is offline.

What can we do?

iPhone XS, iOS 16

There is no way to “recover” or remotely “reset” a device passcode.

Your ONLY option is to reset the device (completely erasing it), set it up again, and then restore your data from a backup.

You WILL need your AppleID credentials.

NOTE: If your device was running an iOS PRIOR to 15.2, you’ll additionally need a cable and a computer to follow the instructions linked near the end of the article.
