Is there a way to have always on display on ALL the time and overnight?

Is there a way to always have the display on when it's charging overnight? if I wake up in the middle of the night, I want to be able to just glance at the time on my phone but last night it was completely dark and I had to press the button to know what time it was. I know apple says the always on display turns off when you haven't interacted with it but is there a way to override it?

Hi onelonelyspider86,

In the article you posted from is the following:

"To save battery life, the display is completely dark when:

  • Your iPhone is lying face down
  • Your iPhone is in your pocket or bag
  • Sleep Focus is on
  • Low Power Mode is on
  • Your iPhone is connected to CarPlay
  • You're using Continuity Camera
  • You haven't used your iPhone for a while (your iPhone learns your activity patterns and turns the display off and on accordingly, including if you set up an alarm or sleep schedule)
  • Your iPhone detects that you moved away from it with a paired Apple Watch (Always-On display will turn on when your Apple Watch is close to your iPhone again)"

I have same issue. I dont want to bring another clock for bed for traveling. The sleep mode should have option of leaving clock on screen all night. I have submitted the feedback. I think the users not Apple should make decision on how display looks like during sleep mode (completely dark even on Always On Display phones) and is already in charging mode (saving power isn't a good excuse).
