FaceTime call with my contacts

I just received 2 FaceTime calls at 6 am. All the names in the calls were from two different text groups I use. I answered the first call and two of my relatives had answered but there was a bunch of talking in the background of people that sounded like Caribbean accents. That’s not my family. No one spoke to us and there was no video. A third FT just came through as I’m writing this. It’s using another one of my text groups.

I know in the past there were FT calls coming from strangers with over 30 strangers on the call and using video but this is actually using my contacts. Unnerving!

Hello Mymothersdimples,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. Which iOS version is currently installed on your iPhone? Settings > General > About.

Does this seem to happen with a specific contact or multiple? Also, if you started a FaceTime call with the same contact, do you experience the same behavior?

If you have't already, please make sure your iPhone is backed up and updated to the latest iOS version 16. Here's how:

We hope this information is useful. Kind regards.
