Why can't I access iCloud from AppleTV?
For instance, I'd like to be able to play movies on my AppleTV from my Movies folder in the cloud.
No, I don't want to stream from or mirror my iPhone, iPad, or MacBookPro...I want to access iCloud directly from AppleTV.
You cannot. Only purchased or rented items can stream from the cloud. Any other file needs to be streamed from the device. You can set up the Computers App on Apple TV to connect to your Mac to stream.

Home videos in your iCloud Photo Library (as managed through the Photos app) are available through the Photos app on Apple TV (4th generation or later). That is for your own creations only; not for commercial content from other sources.

Thank you for your reply. I find it unacceptable that this is the situation.
As a content creator, I find the time limitation of that method a bit constraining.
