iPhone 12 videos not playing without internet connection
Since I downloaded ios16 the videos in my photo gallery which used to play without a Wi-Fi or internet connection suddenly needs one or the other to play….why is this?

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Sounds like you can't view videos from the Photos app without an internet connection. Are you currently syncing your photos and videos with iCloud? If so, you'll want to check if you have your videos downloaded to your device by following these steps here: Manage your photo and video storage - Apple Support
Navigate to Settings > Photos and select "Download and Keep Originals". This will download your videos directly to your device and won't require an internet connection to sync your data from iCloud. We hope this information is helpful. Cheers.
