There’s a limit to image sizes that can be sent via email. Off the top of my head I don’t know what that limit is, but I know I’ve encountered it. They were probably compressed so they would “fit into” an email.

Attached to what?
A few = ?
Appropriate resolution = ?
Compressed = ?
You can try to put them in a zipped "compressed" folder and send that.
Make sure this menu is set to Actual Size in the email:
To an email in the mail app. 2 photos, at the size and resolution exported from Lightroom for screen viewing. When sent, the resolution is shrunk by over a factor of ten
Made decent size images tiny
They weren't that big, well under the sizes I have sent before. they were shrunk to 40kb
