iCloud deleted my photos

I switched my iPhone from 8 to 12. During the backup process iCloud deleted years of my photos.

Now when I try to access them on both my old iPhone 8 and new iPhone 12 i get blank photos or low res versions.

My Photos are missing after upgrading to a new iPhone I recently got a new iPhone 16 pro max, upgrading from the iPhone 14 Pro Max. I made sure my old phone was backed up fully and transferred all data across to my new phone as usual. However, I seem to be missing around 30 photos on my new device. The number of photos on my old and new device does not match. How do I fix this? Apple suggest going through my photos manually to figure out which ones are missing, as it is not at all clear. However, with around 107k photos this isn’t plausible. I’ve also tried restoring my new phone several times from back up and I’m still missing the same number of photos. All iCloud/photo settings are the same on both devices. No clue why those photos haven’t transferred or even what photos they are! [Re-Titled by Moderator]

iCloud photos not appearing About a day ago I accidentaly reset my Iphone to factory settings through a recovery software when I was trying to retrieve deleted photos. Ended up wiping my phone after I clicked restore not knowing it would 'restore' it to it's facorty settings. And to make things worse I had not backed up in over a year due to my storage being full. So I ended up having to use a backup from about a year ago and go from there. However, to my suprise, a couple of photos as recent as this week started popping up along with some of my other data. Apparently this is due to iCloud syncing which I had not know about. Despite this, some of my photos and videos are still missing on both my phone and iCloud with a select few photos reappearing. Is there a way I can get these back?

Did you already log into your iCloud account on your computer and check, if the photos are still part of iCloud?
