iTunes "Pause Downloads" button resets download

Hello,

For different reasons ( time, network timeouts, Laptop going to sleep) , the connection resets and iTunes stops the download for a IOS update for the phone.

I tried using "Pause Download" before leaving the laptop, but when I try to "Resume Download" it just restarts from scratch.

How can I properly resume a download done with iTunes ? An no, "fast Wifi" and stay near the laptop for hours so it doesn't go to sleep is not an option.

iPhone 11, iOS 15

Thank you for your suggestions.

I've tried it on different laptops , same observation. Pause/Resume does not work as expected. When resuming it starts from 0 .

When trying to update to 15.6.1 it kept restarting from 0 even if I paused at 500MB or 1.5GB downloaded and it kept updating the progress until it got to 5.25GB, did not skip to 500MB or 1.5GB where it previously paused. So technically it redownloaded at least 2GB with the pause/restarts that were done.

Forgot to add : iTunes version 12.12.2.2

Notes on suggestions below:

1. For starters, quit and relaunch the app, then test again.  -- Restarting app does not help.

2. Restart your computer and test again.  -- Restarting pc/laptop does not help

3. Remove and reinstall iTunes and test. Remove and reinstall iTunes and related software components for Windows 7 and later This article has the steps for Windows 7, 8 & 10 since the process varies. Be sure to choose the process for the version you’re working with.  -- Same experience after reinstall

Greetings D3xt3rSM,

There are some troubleshooting steps you can take with iTunes to troubleshoot and isolate.

1. For starters, quit and relaunch the app, then test again.

2. Restart your computer and test again.

3. Remove and reinstall iTunes and test. Remove and reinstall iTunes and related software components for Windows 7 and later This article has the steps for Windows 7, 8 & 10 since the process varies. Be sure to choose the process for the version you’re working with.

Another thing we’d ask is whether when resuming the update, though it looks like it may start at the beginning does the downloaded amount jump quickly and then continue from there?

Thanks.
