iPhone 14 Pro preorder shipping later than release?

Hey,

i preordered an iPhone 14 Pro (purple, 128GB) on friday when preorder was available (friday 2pm CEST).

I chose financing for payment and the identification took a little longer because their service was overloaded. But everything went fine.

Tonight i got the confirmation mail that everything's fine and i would get my iPhone some time between Oct. 5th and 12th.. A friend of mine made his pre order for the same phone today (saturday 10pm CEST) with in-store pickup.

He is now able to pick up his iPhone on Sept. 17th, even though he made his pre-order waaay after i did.

Why do I have to wait for a month after release for a "pre-ordered item" and will still get it after someone who pre-ordered more than 24h after i did?

I can't believe that shipping instead of in-store pickup is the reason.

I know the topic I chose is wrong but i couldn't find an option that matches the issue
