Photos for iMac

I just bought a 24" iMac and migrated all my old iMac's contents along with IPhoto which included over 40,000 pictures. How do I get to see the photos on Photos on the new iMac? I have a Welcome to Photos page which talks abut iCloud but I don't want to put all of these photos on iCloud.

Photos System Library if there are 4 different devices? My main computers are fairly new = Mini and MacBook Pro = the Mini is the 'master' It's the system library and upload to cloud is the setting = I want it that way - but I also own an iMac and MBPro that are a little older but are still in use [mainly as I transition from Aperture]. I am on my older MBP right now and while some pics are showing , not all of them = right now it is not set to be a System library -- so do I want all the machines to be system libraries [thinking each device is a 'system'] or only my Mini Master? Then have each of the other Photos not system libraries. but then how do I have all the images [it is set to optimize] so I can see them - in other words how do I link the 3 other device Photos libraries to the Master in the cloud? - Thanks.

Move Apple Photos BACK to iMac Hello, Right now my Photos Library is on an external hard drive attached to my iMac. I realise I have room on my iMac to move it back to the internal hard drive. I am hoping it will be more stable. What is the best way to do this? I don't have a Photos file on my iMac. I also store all photos to the Cloud. I am running macOS Ventura Thanks.

Are you able to keep going beyond the Welcome page until you can dismiss it or it goes away? If so do that, then quit Photos and start it again while holding down the option key.

Another option is to double click on the iPhoto Library and it will open by Photos and converted.

Hold down the option key while opening the Photos app and it will give you the option to select your iPhotos library. It will open and convert it for Photos.
