Removing artwork for imported mp3 files

I have imported an mp3 file from garageband to the music app and it continues to automatically add artwork to the song. I have tried deleting the artwork but it immediately shows up again no matter how many times I try. I also have the "automatically update album artwork" option turned off and it still does this. Any suggestions?

I decided to select all albums and "Get Album Artwork", but this seems to be quite buggy, and downloaded many incorrect images. For example, I have a few trance albums that ended up with Giuseppe Verde on the cover, which I find extremely annoying. Apple also doesn't seem to have quite a few mainstream album covers. Fine, I decided to delete the incorrect ones, so I selected "Clear Downloaded Artwork". It appears to remove the artwork from the album, but when I restart Music, there is it again. No amount of retrying fixes the issue. I've had to restore from a backup to wipe all the downloaded artwork. I'm using Music version 1.2.5.7.

Album artwork not correct after sync with Music libarary on Mac...how do I fix? iPhone 15 PM...update to date on iOS 17.2.1. After syncing my music library on Mac to phone, most of the album artwork doesn't match the original artwork for the album. It's correct on the Music library catalog on Mac, but not on my phone. I've logged out & back in on media purchases on phone. It did restore some of the artwork to what it should be, but not all of them. I know others have posted about sync issues to Music library after latest update. Any other ideas how to fix this?

Wrong Album Artwork when Synching from MacBook M1 Max to iPhone 12 Pro I just synched my Music Library to my iPhone 12 Pro Max. The iPhone is running IOS 16.11. The music library is on a nearly new 16" MacBook Pro M1 Max running Ventura 13.1. The Art work is all correct on the MacBook Pro Library. I manually added much of it because Apples "Add Artwork" feature is about 50% accurate on a good day. I synched selected artists and playlists. The artwork is totally screwed up on about 75% of the Albums - RIDICULOUS, APPLE. Can someone out there tell me how to fix this annoying situation? Thank you. Below are some screenshots from the iPhone 12 library showing some of the ignorant album artwork results.

Are you by any chance playing music through AirPlay while trying to make this edit. There seems to be a weird issue where metadata updates are disabled while AirPlay is active. See Repair security permissions for iTunes/Music for Mac - Apple Community for details. You cannot remove artwork from an item where you don't have the right permissions either.

Failing that one possible approach is to explicitly paste in the default artwork image that you get for missing art in other tracks.
