Applecare Coverage

I purchased an M2 Airbook and I have a question about Applecare coverage. I purchased an American keyboard in Japan (my country of residence), but my AppleID is from the USA store. Can I purchase Applecare from the American Apple store and get full support/coverage in Japan?

Apple has changed Applecare terms recently and coverage may be restricted to the country of purchase (see para 4.1).
