USB drive not showing in sidebar

Hi,

When I plug an USB drive on my iMac and want to attach something from it in a site, it doesn't show in my sidebar nor my desktop window (but it does show in my desktop if I go to it, and in Disk Utility). In Finder -Preferences-Show in Sidebar, "external disks" is checked. (It's also checked in "General", though as I said, they do show in my Desktop). If I could drag files, it'd be no problem, but some sites don't let you do that (like one I use for work).

Anyone knows how to make them show in my sidebar window?

On the sidebar you may need to click "Locations" on the sidebar each time you need to access an external volume since external volumes may not always be displayed (annoying they are not always shown).

You should also be able to access mounted volumes by navigating to "/Volumes" where they should be mounted by default.

Are you using any anti-virus apps, cleaning apps, or third party security software that may be interfering with the normal operation of macOS? You can try booting into Safe Mode to see if you have the same issue.

Have you tried just rebooting the Mac? Sometimes this may be enough to make things work again.
