Slow updates

Mac mini updates are extremely slow. How do we speed up this process?

Make sure the computer is at least 15% free of data usage + 5 GB.

Make sure the internet connection is stable.

Backup your data.

Make sure your machine qualifies for the update.

Turn off any automatic processes outside of updates. That means quit all open applications, and check for any background optimizers and remove them. There should be no optimization or anti-virus software that runs automatically. Use Etrecheck - the handy reporting tool for … - Apple Community to identify such processes.
