Why does my MacBook is logging out after a while on its own?

In Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Security and Privacy, this checkbox alters the timeout period before you see a login on Monterey. It may sometimes be found under Users and Groups or Energy Saver settings on different operating systems or even the screen saver settings.
