lost screen shots, can't find partial screenshots

I often take partial screen shots. Screen shots are supposed to be saved to the desktop by default, and I have also directed them to a folder labeled screenshots, on the desktop.

But they don't show up.

Why the screenshots I take don't get saved in the desktop rather I could only find it in the recent option from finder? Previously I was able to save a screenshot in the desktop but now a days ( recently ) for some reason the screenshots I take never gets saved and I can only find them in the recents option from finder. Not only that, it doesn't even show any previews. Any help would be highly appreciated.

screenshot disappears after dragging I love the ability to drag the thumbnail of a screenshot into an app I'm working with, and have the screenshot just show up. But when I do that, I can no longer find that screenshot in the finder. It only seems to live within the app I dragged it into. My guess is this is a "feature" not a "bug" but there's one problem. Not all apps are interoperable, and now I'm not able to copy/paste my screenshot between apps. I think I have to take another screenshot. Anyone know if the original screenshot file is being saved somewhere other than on my desktop?

Use the default triple key combo ( Shift Command 5 ) and the default location >> Desktop
