Notes are being sent to me in many emails (gmail)

I have this issue that i've only just noticed lately. I use my gmail account for keeping notes on my iphone and I noticed that when I view "all mail" in my inbox I have about 20-30 consecutive emails for a single note if it's a long one. It seems to be sending an email for every word that I type and i'm guessing it's sending an email as it's auto saving the note periodically.

How can I stop this from clogging up my inbox? Should I just stop using my google account to sync notes? How would I go about transferring all my notes over to "on my phone" and synced to icloud.
