How can I legally recover my stolen iPad?

My iPad has been factory reset and stolen and pawned by my ex how can I legally recover it and reset it

Apple does not get involved in anyway with stolen devices.

Your only option is file a police report.

If it were me, file the police report and let the authorities recover it. Apple has "reset" options if you can prove ownership with receipts once you have it back.
