Reminders Subtasks Not Showing in Today View

I love the Reminders app and I use it for all my task tracking etc. I especially use the ‘Today’ view of the widget on my ‘desktop’ for easy access to, you guessed it, my tasks for the day 😬. What I can’t figure out is why subtasks I create for my complex tasks do not appear by default when I open a specific task via the widget (if fact they don’t appear at all!) in the Today view. This is true for all devices I work on ie. iPhone, iPad and Mac.

Each time I want to check off a subtask, I have to dig into the specific task ie edit it, then tick off that all-important check box for a completed task. What’s even more surprising is that if I go to the reminder list in which that specific reminder is located for eg. Personal, the subtasks ALWAYS show by default, ready to tick off! If I was managing just one reminder list, I could probably ignore this shortfall in the Today view; however I have 5 massive reminder lists, each with multiple tasks, all alphabetically arranged by title (which I have to do if I want my subtasks to remain ordered by number, and not shuffled into a confusing mess.. 🤦🏾‍♂️). I don’t want to spend precious time searching for a specific task when it seems intuitive to me where my task for the day should be…

My question: is there a way to have subtasks auto-revealed in the Today view for each task, and if so, how? If this is not possible (and why isn’t it - it would be a boss-level feature!), is this something I could make a possible feature request?

Thanks!

Hi james.myid,

There doesn't appear to be a way to view subtasks for a reminder from the Today View. However, you can change the widget size to display different information. Those steps are below and found in the article here: Add widgets on iPad - Apple Support

"Add a widget to your Home Screen

  1. Go to the Home Screen page where you want to add the widget, then touch and hold the Home Screen background until the apps begin to jiggle.
  2. Tap the Add Widget button at the top of the screen to open the widget gallery.
  3. Scroll or search to find the widget you want, tap it, then swipe left and right through the size options.
  4. The different sizes display different information.
  5. When you see the size you want, tap Add Widget.
  6. While the apps are still jiggling, move the widget where you want it on the screen, then tap Done."

You can also leave feature feedback here: Product Feedback - Apple

Cheers.
