I have an expired subscription that did not auto-renew because my payment method was declined. I have updated my payment method (they did not need updating, all were in date and valid) and it still will not renew?

Try this -> Sign in to your Apple ID account page and edit / update your Apple ID details.
On the Sidebar click Payment methods -> then tap Payments Methods and tap Manage payment method.
Or -> Change, add or remove Apple ID payment methods
Change, add or remove Apple ID payment methods – Apple Support (UK)
If you update your payment method or add funds to your Apple ID balance, It would take about 1 to 3 business days in order to process.
If you're still unable to update your payment method, Contact Apple Support.

Try this:
Go to -> Settings -> tap Your Profiel -> Subscriptions.
Scroll down to the expired subscriptions -> select the expired subscription -> see the options to reactivate / to renew that subscription.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.
When I select the 'Inactive' subscription it asks me to 'Update Payment Method'
When I select that I am taken to 'Manage Payments' on iTunes.
When I select my card it asks me to re-enter my card's CVV/Security Code.
And after doing that it still won't accept the payment method and will not renew.
