Arrow keys works differently

For a time, arrow keys on the keyboard works in unexpected way.

In Chrome browser, I type some part of the address and it lists visited&related pages. I used to navigate to the address with down key. Right now, when I press down key, Chrome Help search menu opens.
When I navigate around images and preview with space bar, I used to go back and forward with up and down keys. Now it opens Help search menu as well. Only up button works and starts from the bottom file.

Is there a solution for that? Thanks.

As already recommended log into a new, basic, admin user account, Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac, and see if the problem persists. This tells us if the problem is limited to your user account or is system wide.

See if you have the same problem while in Safe Mode. The up and down arrow keys should work as you remember.

Guest account works normal. No problem at all.

Not exactly since you have Chrome & Opera installed at the very least.

Try creating a new user account, log into it and test. Or, enable the Guest account, log into it and test.

Check to see if this happens in Safari and other browsers. It the keys work normally in Safari, then it's Chrome that's at fault and you should contact those people. If it happens in all browsers, then we'll know what to hunt for.

A group and a new user (standart) under this group created.

Logged in to that user.

Finder works fine.

Safari, Chrome, Opera works fine.

The fact that the guest user, and a new user account both work means there's something wrong with your main user account. A corrupt file or some setting. Hopefully someone will have an idea on how to track down which it is.

Have you installed and run any "cleaning", "optimizing", "speed-up", anti-virus or VPN apps on your Mac?

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. That is only one thing about the problem. I also have trouble with Finder and preview navigation. So, obviously there is some problem out of Chrome.

And yes, it is same problem with Safari and other browsers as well.
