Issues making and receiving calls after iOS 15.6.1 update

I updated my phone to iOS 15.6.1 today and now I’m having issues with calling others and receiving calls. I answer the phone and I can’t hear anyone on the other end, and when I ring them they can’t hear me. It’s like it’s on mute. When I have got through to someone the calls are cutting out. This is from my office where I usually make calls with no issue. I have restarted my phone after I tried to ring my husband 7 times but he couldn’t hear me, or me him when he called me back. It then worked after the restart but has been doing it off and all day.

What you're describing sounds like a hardware issue. So, you have two choices. You can fuss until Apple releases the next update to iOS which probably won't resolve your issue. Or, you can contact Apple and arrange to have your phone serviced.

And no one here in this user-to-user forum created this or any other issues you're having.

Useless link and information. The problem is after the updating to 15.6.1 the earpiece is totally silent and only way to hear a call is through speaker. All the resets in the world and toying with settings will not fox the software issue that has been introduced in this update. Tons of people are having this issue. I have an iPhone Se 1st Gen 2016 model and was working great all these years and times until I updated to this iOS because of a security alert. Now I can’t hear anyone unless I turn on speaker and when you’re making private calls speaker is not a good option to use. I don’t understand why so many Apple people can’t comprehend this and only offer useless tutorials and apple care or get a new phone even to those who have rather recent phones.

we need an update asap to fix the new issue you created.

I and many others apparently didn’t have any hardware issues till this update. There’s complaints all over this site about it. But yeah I get it spend more money at apple. What’s sad is I’ve been an Apple user ever since the first apple hit the public in the 80s and customer service was world class but today’s business world is all about money and how much more can companies get. I’m sorry but your answer isn’t very acceptable to say the least which otherwise says writing it off as hardware problems says there’s no interest in doing much about it. So for the many having issues your choice os to spend more money at apple or otherwise deal with it to quote you fuss at Apple till new update. Doesn’t sound like a company that gives a crap about the faithful customers.
