No Mac can get infected with any viruses (except for malware, which is easily removed with Malwarebytes). The Apple OS has its own built in antivirus capability and further protection is provided by the fact that the operating system is write protected and cannot be infected.

That depends greatly on what has happened here.
There is Mac malware around, yes.
There are also myriad "your computer has a virus" pop-ups waiting all over the web, and those are all bogus.
