Thanks for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. All Apple USB power adapters come with a Certification label. That's how you can verify the authenticity of the power adapter.


20W USB-C power adapter
These devices come with a 20W power adapter in the box:
iPad mini (6th generation)
iPad (9th generation)
iPad Pro 12.9-inch (5th generation)
iPad Pro 11-inch (3rd generation)
iPad (8th generation)
iPad Air (4th generation)

Plus … many counterfeits are cosmetically quite convincing. And these guys are likely going to accurately duplicate the markings.


A reputable, authorized reseller AND intact seals are your best indicator.


If you have a MacBook … a genuine power supply will communicate it’s internal parameters back to the mac where they can be read-out in the system menu. (unknown if counterfeiters are duplicating this “chip-level” functionality too)
