iPhone storage keeps being full even after a factory reset

I reset my iPhone 10XR 64GB to factory settings and signed in with my apple id. I need to do this every 2-3 months to clear the 20GB of ‘Other’ which now the named ‘System Data’!

After the full reset it shows me that I have only 1GB of System Data but 12GB ios! And still showing me 8GB of photos even though ALL the photos have been cleared! What should I do? Usually after I do this it goes from 62GB full to about 25GB with all my apps.

thank you

Hi there EE007,

We can provide some information. System Data is space used by the operating system on your iPhone and can't be removed manually.

System: Space taken by the operating system. This can vary based on your device and model.

For more information about this and to find out steps you can take to manage the storage on your iPhone, have a look at this support article: How to check the storage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Take care.

Hello EE007,

Thanks for providing an update.

If you see "Other" appear to be using more storage than expected in the future, check out the information below to see if that helps to understand what contributes to this: How to check the storage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

About cached files in "Other"

The Finder and iTunes categorize cached music, videos, and photos as Other instead of actual songs, videos, or photos. Cached files are created when you stream or view content like music, videos, and photos. When you stream music or video, that content is stored as cached files on your device so you can quickly access it again.

Your device automatically removes cached files and temporary files when your device needs more space.

Have a great day!

We'd be happy to continue helping, EE007.

In the article, it explains: "In the Storage section of Settings, your device might offer recommendations for optimizing your storage. Tap Show All to see all the recommendations for your device.

Read the description of each recommendation, then tap Enable to turn it on or tap the recommendation to review the contents you can delete."

In addition, when you delete photos, make sure to clear the Recently Deleted photos folder and then restart your iPhone. That can help to straighten out the data change from those actions.

Let us know if we can help with anything else at all or if this doesn't settle your issue. Thanks and have a fabulous day!
