Downloading Messages from icloud not working

Hi,

I recently bought a new MacBook Pro and I wanted to be able to get all my messages from my phone (on icloud) into the messages app on my MacBook.

It seems to be stuck "Downloading Messages from icloud..." but I know the messages are in the cloud, as I can see the space they are taking up in storage.

New messages are able to be forwarded to my MacBook, but I was hoping to be able to fully gain all the previous conversations as well (since that seems to be the point of icloud)

Thanks for any help!

queenchella,

When verifying the settings, from Access your messages on all your Apple devices

"To make sure you’re seeing the latest messages in iCloud on your Mac, choose Messages > Preferences, click iMessage, then click Sync Now in the Settings pane."

Also note: "Note: Depending on how many messages you have, it may take a while for all of them to appear. You can send and receive messages during that time."

Hope this helps.

Best regards.

Hi queenchella,

Let's start by making sure Messages in iCloud is turned on for your iPhone and MacBook Pro.

On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
1. Go to the Settings app.
2. Tap your name.
3. Tap iCloud.
4. Turn on Messages.

On your Mac
1. Open Messages.
2. In the menu bar, choose Messages > Preferences.
3. Click iMessage.
4. Select the checkbox next to Enable Messages in iCloud.

The amount of time it takes to see all your messages on your Mac can vary based on your internet connection speed and how many messages are syncing. Let us know if you have any more questions.

Take care.
