adding a continuation page on letterhead with different background image

Hi and help, please!

I need to create a letterhead and continuation sheet, which has one image background on page 1 and a different image background on the subsequent pages. I managed to get the different backgrounds in (creating a new section for the second page) but testing it out reveals a problem. Once I've filled the first page with text and it kicks over onto page 2, the background image changes on this 'continuation' page, to the background image that was on page 1.

I'm setting up on my Mac, but ultimately it will be used on the Pages app on an iPad.

I'm hopefully just missing something simple. I'm a novice on Pages but I've been asked to set this up for someone. Hoping one of you kind folks can point me in the right direction and let me know what I'm missing. Many thanks :)

In the Document panel > Sections tab for that second section, do not select Match previous section, which is a Pages default selection for multiple sections. Once you do that, then section two will be different from the first section. That document setting should persist to Pages for iPadOS.

Thank you so much for responding :)

I found the 'Match previous section' under the Headers and Footers and it was ticked but also greyed out. I went into the Document tab in the Document settings and made sure that the Header box was now ticked. Going back into the Section tab, the options were no longer greyed out, I unticked the 'match previous section'* but as soon as the cursor moves from page 1 to page 2 is still changes and brings the background image** from page 1 into page 2.

*its unticked on both pages (but I've tried various combinations!)

**The background image is A4 for both page 1 and page 2 and was placed as a 'background')

If you have any other suggestions I'd be grateful. I've already been on their guides but to no avail... argh!

It would seem that if you moved the image in the respective sections to Section {Master, Layout} > Move Objects to Section {Master, Layout} that the individual sections should have different background images if Match previous section was disabled in the second section. I used the {Master, Layout} nomenclature as older versions of Pages used Master, and newer versions switched their vocabulary to Layout.
