So how do you view the photos in iTunes? When you click the little icon at the top and it displays the photos option below summary it says iPhone can access photos in iCloud Photos can be downloaded to your device via WiFi or Mobile Network.

There just doesn't seem to be an option to view the backed up photos from the iphone on the computer. Can anyone help please?

iTunes will not back up what is already synced to iCloud.

A backup on your computer (iTunes/Finder) doesn't include:

  • Content from the iTunes and App Stores, or PDFs downloaded directly to Apple Books
  • Content synced from iTunes, like imported MP3s or CDs, videos, books, and photos
  • Data already stored in iCloud, like iCloud Photos, iMessages, and text (SMS) and multimedia (MMS) messages
  • Face ID or Touch ID settings
  • Apple Pay information and settings
  • Apple Mail data
  • Activity, Health, and Keychain data (to back up this content, you'll need to use Encrypted Backup in iTunes.)
