how high is the apple studio display
I wonder - before I buy. How much room is it between the desk and the bottom edge of the Apple Studio display with the standard tilt stand?

I don't know where people are coming up with these numbers but I’m sitting here at my desk with a ruler and from my desktop to the bottom of my Studio Display is about 5 inches. My Mac Studio is just under 4 inches high and fits under the Studio Display with about an inch to spare.
In your post you do ask about the distance between the desk and the bottom of the Studio Display, right? As I sit here the Studio Display is about even with my face. Of course this all depends on how tall or short you are and the height of your chair when sitting at your desk. If you were to put the display on top of the Mac Studio I think it would be way too high unless you are a really tall person.
I’m kind having a hard time guessing what you are getting are getting at here with your question.
From: Studio Display - Technical Specifications - Apple
Studio Display with tilt-adjustable stand
Height: 18.8 inches (47.8 cm)
and
Studio Display with VESA mount adapter
Height: 14.3 inches (36.2 cm)
My calculation based on the above information:
The VESA mount adapter height number of 14.3 inches is the screen height with no stand.
So 18.8 minus 14.3 = 4.5 inches
Note that would be with screen not tilted.
The Studio Display weighs 13.9 pounds according to Studio Display - Technical Specifications - Apple
I don't know how much weight the Mac Studio can support.
If you want the Studio Display to be higher, the "tilt- and height-adjustable" stand has a range for the top of the screen to be between 18.8 and 23.0 inches while the "tilt-adjustable" stand is fixed at 18.8 inches.
That isn't in the Studio Display - Technical Specifications.
Perhaps you could call or visit an Apple store for that information, or wait until someone who has one to post here?
EDIT - I see FoxFifth has come to your aid with a calculation.
If that isn't high enough can the display be placed on top of the Sudio Pro?
