Cant activate lost mode on airpods pro

My airpods pro have been stolen but i m not able to put them in lost mode i cant even getting the option what is the problem

According to Find your lost AirPods - Apple Support, whichever Apple device you had the AirPods Pro connected to needed Find My enabled prior to the AirPods being lost otherwise those headphones can’t be located. Is that the scenario here?

Its obvious that i have connected my airpods pro with my iphone otherwise why they would appear in my device list

And find my device is on i always locate my airpods in house with that

Ok. Is the lost mode option shaded out or is it not present at all? The option to look for is "Activate" under "Mark as lost". Also, is the iPhone up-to-date in terms of iOS and it's not in a beta?
