Those may include non-Apple; or even google.

Should a generic 'work icon' be sought, ideas

and meaning, change by mindset/geography.

Actually, if you call up the emoji set and do a search for "work", quite a few come up with that tag. Not surprisingly, one of them is a construction worker.

Most are things you would use for work, such as a filing cabinet, pushpin, speed square, paper clip, ruler, etc.

A wireless icon is currently a draft candidate.

As it was added as a draft over two years ago, you can see how long it sometimes take before an approval or rejection is decided on.

Only the Unicode Consortium decides what emojis get added.

And just what would a "work" emoji look like? There are thousands, millions of things that can be described as work.

What exactly do you want this icon to do? You want to replace the WiFi icon with some sort of work icon? It doesn't make any sense.
