Time Machine Backups with High Sierra!

I just read this on the Seagate web site!

APFS is not compatible with Time Machine on macOS versions High Sierra to

Catalina. Time Machine requires the drive to be formatted Mac OS

Extended (Journaled) for these versions.

This makes no sense to me.  I just ran a successful High Sierra Time Machine Backup using a USB HDD formatted APFS.

Also Apple recommends APFS for High Sierra especially on SDD drives. What is Apple doing????

Apple makes everything so complicated and disruptive for their customers.

What is the story?

I have not yet tried to restore a copy of the APFS from Time Machine.

I have ordered a 1TB SSD drive where I will try to restore the High Sierra AFPS to it.

Then I will see if I have a working bootable copy of a High Sierra AFPS Mac.

Seagate is a huge disk company why would they publish that statement if is not true.
