Red exclamation mark when transferring photos to iPhone from my sd card. It works perfectly on other apple devices but not my phone.

Hello, yes I’m using an sd card reader that plugs directly into the phone.
The photos can get transferred to other IPhones and IPads with out an issue but for some reason only certain photos will transfer to my phone but most photos get left with a red exclamation mark in the bottom right corner and do not transfer.

Let's also make sure that your iPhone is all up to date using the steps below:
1. Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
4. If you see two software update options available, choose the one that you want to install.
5. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do.

Yes my phone is fully updated and the issue still persists after it being restated and hard restarted. Some photos get transferred fine, others do not. And yes it is an apple lighting to sd card reader. I have also tried a sandisk sd card reader and got the same issue.
