Numbers
After years of using numbers I've lost the back lines on all documents, even the ones that are in folders for past years. I've read the instructions and nothing works. I have a 2019 MacAir. Would like any help.

Take a look at Sytem Preferences->Accessibility->Display. Is the display contrast slider slid to the right at all or is it on "normal"? If you don't see the slider ( ecause it might be washed out), click just to the right of "Display Contrast" to adjust it to the left. You may have to click a bunch of times to hit it. I'm posting a screenshot but it may not look right to you.

Can you describe what the "back lines" are?
I'll guess and assume you mean the table grid(?)
Here are two state of a table... unselected:

Here, I have highlighted all the grid lines of the table:
Are grid lines what you are inquiring about?
Will you post a screenshot of your situation?
The black grid lines. I've restored on some documents but on Google search and internet sites the grid lines around the search box are gone. The gridlines on banking and financial sites etc. Difficult to update a spread sheet without lines to separate the numbered sections. I've messed with this for hours. Uninstalled Duck,DuckGo and back to Chrome or Google. Nothing seems to work.
Can you post a screenshot of what you are seeing with the Google search box? Are you using Safari as your browser?
Your screenshot shows gridlines around all cells when I see it here. It appears to be something about your computer if you are not seeing them in the screenshot you posted.
Set it to Normal. Anything else and the screen washes out, including gridlines and boxes disappearing.
Seems to me this setting does exactly opposite of what it says. It reduces contrast. I see absolutely no use for it, for any disability. It only makes things worse.
Sorry, that's what I meant. No reason to access those settings before. Also opened a new numbers document and the gridlines are displayed there, I've just done something to the settings to really mess things up but I really can't understand what I could have done to change the look of Google and other sites being messed up.
Thanks for trying to help. I may have to hire a Mac expert to make a house call. My third Mac, been using Apple products for over 20 years so am really frustrated and feeling s-t-u-p-i-d.
I have spread sheets & all of them have lost the black gridlines. Also websites such as my bank etc have lost gridlines. I’ve searched on line for repair info but nothing is working.
Websites have also lost the gridlines? Your problem is happening in Safari as well, not just Numbers?
Please share a screenshot of the problem
What is missing?
I also played with the contrast in accessibilities and it's set to maximum.
I see grey gridlines around the cells in your screenshot. Do you not see those?
I do now bur try faint. Think I did something in accessibility area that affected contrast in all areas. Still not as much contrast as I would like but thanks for helping.
