Emails disappearing: Mail moved from Junk to Inbox disappearing

Upgraded to Monterey 12.4. Recently discovered important emails in my junk folder. When I clicked on "Move to Inbox" they appeared briefly in the Inbox (a few seconds) and then totally disappeared with no trace. I've seen other threads from 10 years ago that discussed the same issue, but nothing recently. Is anyone else experiencing this? Any solutions or a software bug?

Wanted to add this: Don't click on "Move to Inbox" -- you'll lose the email permanently. Just drag and drop the email from junk to the individual email inbox.

Ok - I think I figured it out.

My "All Inboxes" has 9 separate email accounts. I clicked on the little arrow to the left of All Inboxes to show each account.

Now, when I go to the Junk folder, I can drag and drop the email into the correct Inbox account directly (rather than putting it in All Inboxes.) The emails seem to remain intact then.

As an aside, I did check ALL the separate email accounts for the emails that disappeared and they remain lost, I believe forever. So for anyone losing emails while moving from junk to Inbox, the lesson is to move it directly to the email account and not into "All Inboxes."

Thank you P. Phillips for your input and advice.
