Is it okay to always charge my MacBook to a 100%?

Hi, I got my 14 inch MacBook Pro with the M1 Pro Chip a week ago. Since the first day I always keep my battery between 20% and a 100%, I know that batteries now are super intelligent and can last a long time, but I don't know if I'm gonna waste my cycles charging to a 100 every time.

It's been 10 days since a first got it and I have 8 cycles, the battery it's fantastic really, I charge it every 2 days, 1 if I use it a lot.

It's about as far from a scientific evaluation as you can get, but I pretty much pound on my Macs and use them mercilessly. None of them have ever broken.

I still have an 11 year old MacBook Air that still does most if not everything I need it to do. It's on its second battery, but it lasts nearly all day.

It's a Mac. Drive it like you stole it.

There was never a real need to pay such close attention to how you use a Mac battery, but Apple's recent implementation of Optimized Battery Charging has rendered the entire discussion moot.

Plug it in when you need to, don't if you don't. Or leave it plugged in all the time. Or not. It really, really doesn't matter. Apple designs their products so you don't have to concern yourself with such minutia.

HI there, i have the same question as well. I have used a 2015 MacBook Pro, i didnt bother about the charging yet it stayed healthy for 3 years. Then i bought an iPhone X and did the same, the battery degraded to 78% in a year... so im not sure if it works differently for iPhone and MacBook. Recently i bought a new MacBook Pro 2022 (M1 Pro Chip) and im being careful with the charging as i try my best to keep it between 20% - 80% and avoid less than 20% or more than 80%.

Just being extra careful as i dont want to face the same hasle as my iPhone. But if anyone from Apple can clarify this as for me, due to my routine, the Optimised Battery Charging doesnt work as it always goes to 100% if i leave it plugged in. Maybe my routine is not the same daily.
