How can I turn HEIC into other file formats? I have Adobe Suite on my iMac, need to convert if possible iPhone, iPad photos to formats other than jpg, eg tiff. I'd rather change the format on my desktop than in the phone.

If you import them into a Photos library you can export out as any format you'd like, i.e. jpeg, tiff or png.
Or you can download from the App Store the free app HEIC Converter to convert them to either jpeg or png.

If you are not storing your photos in Photos, you can also use the Preview.app to convert HEIC files to JPEG or TIFF or many other formats.
