Powerbeats 3 ear loop broke while adjusting it

Powerbeats3 ear loop-ring (metal part within the rubber casing) broke. Would this be considered defective and eligible to replace or fix per Apple?

I use these a lot at the gym, great earbuds. Really just was putting them over my ear and came off.
