When I'm wearing my Apple Watch, my iPhone will not alert me that I have a text.

I have a I phone 13 pro max and a I Watch series 7. When I am wearing my watch, my phone will not sound an alert that I have a text message, I only get a beep on my watch. I want both to give an audible alert. What am I doing wrong or not doing to make this happen?

It is working the way it is designed. When you are wearing a paired watch with wrist detection enabled text notifications occur only on the watch.
