Downloads won’t open in Word on ipad

I have my Microsoft word opened already on my ipad and I went to my downloads-files to open up some brush templates and practice sheets I found on this girls website for procreate. But I am trying to open the handwriting sheets to practice in word or maybe even notes app if it lets me. But I know word is useful for this but I can’t open any of them. They are greyed out except for the actual file showing them and my resume that I recently edited this morning. I’m not sure why I can’t. They used to open before. And my resume is part of downloads and saved to my iPad now from airdrop but I’m not sure why I can’t click any of them. They are PDF. Please help!

Hey Brittneyleed11,

We understand you're unable to open certain files for Microsoft Word on your iPad. We'd be happy to help out.

If a file is greyed out, this indicates that it's not compatible. Additionally, you mentioned that these are PDF, so it'd be best to open them in a PDF editor or while using the Files app.

You can also add PDFs to the Books app and edit using Markup.

Edit a PDF that you saved
If you want to edit or add a signature to a PDF, use Markup. To rename a PDF, open the Books app on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch and find the PDF in the Library tab. Then tap the Show Actions button  and choose Rename.

This information and more is available here: Save PDFs to the Books app on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Take care!
