Siri does not recognize me

Good morning everybody.

I have a strange problem with Siri on my HomePods:

When asking Siri who I am, she isn't able to recognize my voice. Doing the same on my iPad, iPhone or Mac, Siri tells me correctly, who I am.

I have a setup with some HomePod/HomePod Minis across my house and my office (different location, same "Home"). My wifi, admin of our "Apple home", is recognized, I (owner) am not.

What I did so far:

  • I am using the latest firmware & updates on every Apple device.
  • On each of my Apple devices, I disabled the "Recognize my voice" option within "Apple Home" and re-enabled it, running through the assistant.

Without luck - Siri doesn't like me... ;-)

Does anybody have any clue how to solve this?

Best regards,

Chris

It should allow up to 6 users ( with their own Apple ID). I’m sorry I’m alone in my home so I have no experience with this. I do however occasionally have Siri say “I don’t know who you are”. I can usually resolve any issues by unplugging HomePod for a few seconds then plugging back in. It never gets my address right if I ask where I am. Only my street is correct. So it uses location services as well. You might want to check that is in order on your iPhone. If it was on, toggle it off, restart your phone then toggle it back on. In Find My like this:

  1. Restart the iPhoneiPad or iPod touch that you use with "Hey Siri".
  2. Restart your HomePod mini or HomePod.
  3. Set up "Hey Siri" again: on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, go to Settings > Siri & Search, turn off Listen for "Hey Siri", turn it back on again, then follow the onscreen instructions to teach Siri your voice.
  4. On your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, go to Settings > Siri & Search, and make sure it's set to the same language as your HomePod.

If you have two Apple IDs in your home that have "Hey Siri" set up with the same voice, you may need to turn off Recognise My Voice on one account.

Hi Vancouver22.

Thank you for your reply.

After your post, I repeated step 1 - 3 and controlled step 4.

Indeed I have a second Apple ID within my home: my wife is joined to our home with her own Apple ID and "recognize my voice" enabled.

When understanding you correctly, only one Apple ID within an "Apple Home" can be recognized through Siri on HomePod? Is this a known limitation?

Christian

Hi Vancouver22.

Thanks for diving into this with me :-)

I share my location data with my wife, this option is turned on as well on any of my mobile Apple devices. And I also double checked my contact information. It is correct.

It sounds curious - on every Apple device I work with, when asking Siri, she knows who I am and who I live.

Only on my HomePods, Siri doesn't like me ;-)

I guess this can't be solved by me. I just wanted to check with you experts [ :-) ], that I am not doing anything wrong.

Best regards,

Christian
