MacMini HDMI out to HP X24c monitor display port?

Hello,

Does anyone know why my Mac Mini HDMI out will not connect into the Display port of the HP X24c gaming monitor? Using the display port cable that looks like an HDMI on one edge and is straight—not curved—on the other edge.

I am using the latest OS on the Mac Mini.

Mac mini M2 HDMI port not working I can only drive my display with an HDMI cable If i connect a USB-C hub to the mac mini USB-C port and drive the display from the HDMI on the hub. So mini >> USBC >> HUB>>HDMI>>Display works. I've done this with 2 cables, 1 old, and 1 brand new that supports 8K video. My monitor is a 2K device with a max refresh rate of 75Hz If I go Mini>>HDMI>>Display it doesn't work If I use HDMI directly and hold down the power button for ten seconds I do see the display flash briefly and show the setup screen. Right now I'm burning a USB C port for the display where HDMI would work just fine [Re-Titled by Moderator]

Mac Mini M2 Display Port 1.2 to Thunderbolt 4 (USB-C) I was trying to connect my monitor, a Philips 278E8QJAB via Display Port 1.2 to the Thunderbolt 4 using a USB - C cable (https://alogic.co/usb-c-male-to-displayport-male-cable-ultra-series-4k-60hz-space-grey.html) It is not sending video signal to the monitor. When I connect the monitor via HDMI to the Mac Mini along with the USB-C cable to the same monitor I can see the led indicator on the USB - C turned green and there is video signal even I pulled off the HDMI cable. Not sure what went wrong.

What year model is the Mac Mini?

Identify your Mac mini model - Apple Support

If you have a 2018 or later model, then you need to use a USB-C to DisplayPort cable.

If you have a 2014 or earlier model, then you need a MiniDisplay Port to DisplayPort cable.

You should connect the mini’s HDMI port to the HP’s HDMI port using a regular HDMI cable not longer than 5’. Are you? Why not?
