Kindle text to speech with ios 15

I am trying to use the Kindle text to speech with my iPhone 11 using ios 15.5. Upon searching the web for information; everything that pops up explains the process using the older version of ios where the phone has a "home" button. When I try to active the voice over on my iPhone; the voice over starts but I cannot get out of the settings page to go to the Kindle book. When I leave the setting page the voice over turns off. Does anyone know of a work around to use this application on ios 15
